How it all began..

I’m In™ was created by sisters Lucy Byrne and Penny Terry to solve the data collection problems of their community-based business Healthy Tasmania Pty Ltd.

They soon realised many more people needed the same problems solved.

Lucy, Penny and the whole team at Healthy Tasmania continue to use I’m In™ daily to support the multiple community projects they manage, making sure it’s always fit-for-purpose.

Here’s how it all began…

In 2008 a green and keen project officer with freckles and long brown hair found herself in the centre of a leafy park with swarms of people walking towards her with yoga mats under their arms…

They were about to participate in the first free session of yoga as part of a community-wide health and wellbeing initiative called Active Launceston.

This project officer was armed with a bunch of pens and a stack of paper forms for participants to fill out providing their demographic and health information, insurance indemnity, photo consent and emergency contact details. She was pretty impressed with herself as she knew she had ticked all the safety boxes but also would have all the data she needed to report to her managers and the funding body on the success of the program and she was confident future funding would be in the bag… but when 100 people turned up suddenly ticking these boxes was a massive job.

As the years went by, the funding did keep rolling in and free community programs continued, but the paper forms kept piling up and up, as all of that rich data had to be entered manually.

It was time consuming, tedious and well…BORING!

Fast forward nine years and this project officer, now business owner got sick of manually entering peoples ages, health care card status, languages spoken at home, chronic conditions, address, email, medications, allergies, next of kin, location of birth and all those other details that funders require.

She looked for other existing alternatives, but there didn’t seem to be an alternative that would work as she needed it.

Rather than complaining about this headache of data collection, she invented the antidote!

She created a simple phone app to collect all the data she needed in-field with a simple ‘beep’.

That App is I’m In™.

Over the last five years, I’m In™ has been tried and tested, upgraded and transformed into an innovative data collection platform with integrated apps and is available to fix the headaches for anyone who needs to collect, connect and circulate data about projects or services.

That project officer was Lucy!

Lucy is the Managing Director of Healthy Tasmania. Lucy learned if something is giving you a headache and you can’t find a cure – create one.

Chances are someone else will be looking for it too.

I’m In now underpins all of the work that we do in the community and we’re confident it can help you too.
